Once he hears the rumble of thunder (and listens, confirms that it is in fact thunder and NOT the volcano beneath them) he is awake enough to notice the rain, and feels her pressing closer to him.
With his fingertips, he starts to stroke through her hair, toying with some of the curls and waves.
