OOM All Skate Skellig Dream Magic Weirdness -Part Nine
Kreyu has gathered plenty of henna and even woad, a blue dye, for some experiments with designs on Skellig's skin.
"The blue would look lovely on you, I think," she remarks. "Your fairer skin would show it off quite well. Though I am far more experienced in applying henna."
She's gathered bits and pieces of designs to look at for inspiration. Celtic style knots, viking style abstract patterns and stylized beasts, the mandala and floral type designs he's admired on her, and more.

(The exhaustion is starting to set in, but it is entangled with the relief that perhaps Revenin will not set him alight the moment he first meets him.)
"I am glad and grateful to hear that, my love," he says honestly. "I know that was important to you, very much so." Even if Kreyu would not have done differently if Revenin had 'disapproved' of Skellig - it is not like he would have expected her to dump him off to the side like trash! But it is still her family, her brood brother, and he knows it means something.

She can tell he is weary, and she's getting that way herself. "Shall we go back to the Lair, love, get some rest?"
no subject
And that will give them time to finish packing the things that they have gathered from the ship, Skellig using some of the larger canvas sacks to fill with the things that they have chosen to take back for themselves. Tucked carefully away is the box with the finely carved puzzle ball, as well as the sack with the gemstones and the dagger. Once he has listened well enough and he is certain that they are out of sight, he steps clear of the shoreline, gives her room to shift back to her dragon form, then readies their 'cargo' for the flight back to the Lair.
"What of the ship?" He asks, as he hops 'aboard' her back and settles in to his usual spot, the spells already active around him for protection. "If we sink it, it will be of no use for scrap. But perhaps it could just be disabled, in some way, so that it would never sail again?"
no subject
After that, it's time for a straight flight back to the Lair and a quick round of unpacking.
She's glad to be able to take a human shape again, because it means she can wrap her arms around Skellig, kiss him softly.
no subject
There are a lot of things attached to those two words - especially with the way he says them as she allows his arms to wrap around her body (he has missed this shape of her) and his lips to press against hers. It is an expression of gratitude, a statement of fact, a declaration of belonging and so much more...
He lingers for a moment with his forehead resting against hers, before he leans back slightly and looks at her face, her chest - checking for burn marks or bruises, anything he might have missed that may have filtered over. He doubts there is anything that 'survived' her multiple shifts, but he wants to be certain...
no subject
"I am well, my love," she says, smiling softly. "Though we can wash up while you check me more thoroughly if it would make you feel better."
For once, there's no innuendo attached to that statement. They are both tired, physically and emotionally.
no subject
And for once, there is no innuendo attached to that statement either. He offers her a smile - it is slight, but it is genuine.

Washing up doesn't take long, and soon they are back in THEIR bed. She's rubbing the skin ointment onto Skellig because he has, of course, gotten a bit burned. Her strokes of his body are slow and soothing.
no subject
At some point while she is working the ointment into his skin, he shivers firmly, leans into her touch.
"More of them behaved than I expected," he mutters quietly. "We were convincing enough."
no subject
"We have brought Light of out Darkness, brought forth good from poison. That is no small thing."
no subject
Skellig is still bothered (and will be for at least a short while) at the blood spilled by his hands. But he does not show that outwardly and it will fade in enough time, as she works her fingertips over his skin.
"I know we cannot save them all. That is a given, no matter the circumstance," he admits. "But to see the majority of things change in the way we desired, I will come to deal with that."

He smiles softly, leans back into her touch a bit. "And with a few items to add to our hoard at that, it is not all for naught." Yes, he said our hoard. And yes, they will likely need to start a second chest for Skellig himself at this rate, the way he is gathering things on their journeys.
no subject
"And lovely items they are," Kreyu tells him, proud of him as anything. "With Elihu coming back to the Lair to stay for a while, we could go wherever we please until it is time to go back to the Village. So many wonders to see, so many treasures to find."
Her heart is full of excitement. "I had thought of going North, after we have settled things for Xenophon and his sister. To see the tree leaves change to so many brilliant colors, perhaps even far enough North to see snow fall."
no subject
And he knows that cold weather, leaves changing, snow falling from the sky - those are all the more reasons to have her cuddled close to him, curled up at his side - things he will never turn down the opportunity for!
"Do you expect it will take long, the matter of settling the debts?" He can sense her heartbeat rising as she 'daydreams' of the adventures they may find themselves in once their task has been completed. "I know we will have to pack for that, then our journey past it."
no subject
"Due to politics, I will have to look different than I usually do when we visit Xenophon's homeland. I had thought of using a shape I have not taken in a long time -a serpentine like dragon, like Elihu, but covered in feathers of all the colors of the rainbow. What do you think?"
no subject
He reaches out and strokes a bit of her hair back away from her face, tucking an unruly strand behind her ear.
"The cat was smart," he adds. "You did not wound your beak and hands, this time, in getting to me."
no subject
She's a bit embarrassed about how she damaged herself last time. "It helped that I couldn't, couldn't smell your blood, feel that you were dying."
"And I CAN learn from my mistakes, no matter what Revenin sometimes mutters," she huffs under her breath.
no subject
Skellig has no intention of going anywhere, thank you very much!
"Your shifting...are you only able to call upon shapes that you can used before, or can you adapt them to your needs?"
no subject
She smiles, proud. "I can take the shape of any living creature that I please, alter them to suit my needs. It is more expensive, in terms of energy, than taking one of the shapes of my soul."
"My shape changing is my greatest skill, as Revenin's is fire and Elihu's is storm."
no subject
"Should I take a different form, while I am present? I would not wish to cause a scene upon our arrival in Mycenae," he says. "You will likely have to rework another piece of jewelry, but I am sure there are more to find."
no subject
She smiles. "Not that I would object to finding new jewelry to decorate you with."
no subject
All of that, however, can come later. Right now he is sprawled out and curled up in the bed with her, slowly relaxing in their space.
no subject
"Might need to bundle up in some blankets by the fire with my husband, wait out a storm or two."
no subject
But that thought is one that pleases him.
"I am certain that we will find a place to do that," he says. "I would gladly curl up with you, share warmth and whatever our bodies might desire to aid us in keeping comfortable." A smirk. "Even though it will take longer to undress, we will likely manage."
