OOM: All Skate Skellig Dream Magic Weirdness? -Part Two

Kreyu intended to dance in the sky with Skellig the very next day, but events have conspired to prevent that from occurring. A raid on the village by former soldiers meant many wounded to heal and much damage to fix. Akatan's sister, Neferet, has a definite crush, an infatuation, with Skellig. She hasn't done anything but look and exchange some friendly words, but it still makes her brother FURIOUS.

For all that Euripedes was from a different time and place, a line he had Medea speak in the play of the same name still rings true: "I would rather stand three times in the line of battle than once bear a child." Even with Kreyu's magic, with Taweret's skill, childbirth is incredibly dangerous. There are reasons why Taweret's goddess image of She Who Is Great has elements of the hippo, the lion, and the crocodile, a fearsome appearance to drive off the many threats facing a woman giving birth. The second birth in a week began this morning and was still going on when the sun began to set. Not a good sign.

Skellig, trying to burn off nervous energy while Kreyu was working, happened across a few of the village men drinking. They said things about Kreyu they should not have said. That he was FEEDING on Kreyu, drinking her blood. There...may have been a fight. At least they don't think he's a demon anymore, you can't give a demon a black eye in a brawl with your fists!

It is truly night now, and Skellig can hear Kreyu's tired footsteps on the road...

"Nobody has ever touched my wings in that way," he agrees. "You are right about that. Never have I allowed someone that...close."

Close.

Something clicks in his mind as he speaks, as if a piece of the puzzle has fallen into place: Close. She is closer to you and you are closer to her.

Skellig tilts his head, trying to listen in an effort to make better sense of not only his body, but also his feelings, his mind. Then something else clicks, and this one hits a little harder, causing his breath to catch in his chest sharply: You have been missing parts to your soul for so long. You go as to where you are needed. Searching. But now you do not need to search. You have found a missing piece. It is her. He tips his head back, trying to catch her gaze with his eyes. There is relief in his expression when he looks at her.

"Oh, Kreyu," he whispers, reaching up to stroke her cheek. "I...I am no longer lost." There is gratitude and relief in his voice, along with a power that speaks of how much this means to him. "I am...I am exactly where I belong. With you. I am yours."

"I have not...I have not felt this way since I was given my name."

And Skellig does not even truly remember that in any true detail. But he knows she will understand the gravity of what he has just said. Because there is so much power in a name.

"I think...I think it would. My senses are so very heightened right now, I know I could not...I would not sleep, no matter how I tried."

To prove his point, he leans up and kisses her, showing her just how 'awake' he really is.

"I am able to see quite well. It is almost better than my hearing, my night vision."

He sits up carefully.

"And I could hold you," he offers. "If you would settle with your back against my chest, tuck your wings - it would be easy to fly both of us until it was open enough that you could fly without risk?"

Which he plans on doing - even though he could easily lift her without too much true effort, it will be easier to fly using a bit of his power to lighten her in his arms - and after stretching and quickly preening his feathers back into order, he steps closer to her, sliding his arms around her body from behind, wrapping her in a hug.

His hands might wander over her breasts, the same way as his lips slowly trail kisses over the back of her shoulder and up the side of her neck, bringing his voice to her ear.

"Would you make it easier for us to talk, once more? I do not know if that wears off."

He has her held securely to his body, with one arm around her mid-section and his other around her chest. His fingertips trace excited patterns on her skin as he 'cheats' and lifts them both off the sand without even beating his wings, just hovering marginally (to test his grip on her, of course) for a few breaths.

Once he is satisfied, he kisses her neck again, obviously pleased. Hugging her close (just because he can) he allows his wings to beat, sending them both skyward.

He will not let her fall.

Skellig laughs at her delight, pleased that he has made her feel this way.

"I would not object to the opportunity to hold you in my arms," he says honestly, getting them to a height that is above the trees, but not much higher - he wishes to 'scout' the island further, now that night has fallen. The moon is low on the horizon but full, and rising, casting a glint across the sea. He banks slowly to turn, following the coastline. This is not the frenzied flight of earlier, their other ritual. This is for pleasure, and to work off his energy, settle his thoughts. "You complete a part of me, like this."

"It is a part I did not know I had lost," he admits, mind clearer with the ability to just be 'himself', aloft. "When you coaxed me to pleasure, with your hands in my wings...the stars in the sky above your body as I spoke your name..."

A slow, easy glide on an updraft takes them past a rockier stretch of the shoreline, where the waves crash now with less fury on a calmer night.

"...it was as if every star in the sky was brought inside of my soul, searing your name brightly upon my very being, millions of times over. Endlessly giving myself to you."

"It may have something to do with it," he says, though he still is not entirely sure himself. "For I feel now as if my Light has...has become intertwined with your Karma, both coursing through my veins."

And truthfully, ever since her necklace shattered beneath his fingertips, her Karma flooding through him (along with her blood filling his lungs), he has felt a greater sense of connection to her. Though he thought it just trauma from the fear of losing her, perhaps Taweret was right - perhaps he did beat back Death...

"The universe is full of wonders that not even beings like you or I can explain," he adds. "But I look forward to exploring them with you."

Another slow turn, an easy glide. "Returning tomorrow would be wise, we would not want her to worry." He presses his lips to her neck. "Would you heal in our home, or would we need to travel again?"

"I would not mind playing the part of the doting caretaker, but...you are likely right about going stir crazy." He laughs. "I cannot imagine you remaining bedbound for any length of time. And Taweret would help to cover our absence from the villagers, I'm sure."

Skellig knows there would be questions, but he also knows that the midwife is very smart and she has likely dealt with many things more difficult than explaining why someone has not been seen as they recover from injury.

"Where would you like to go?"

When she trails off, his hold on her tightens slightly - as if to remind her that he is still here and he will still protect her (even though he knows against another dragon, he would likely be rather useless) - and he presses his lips to her neck.

"Would you have me also meet your brothers, or would you prefer to do that alone?" There is no fear in his voice, merely curiosity. "I would not wish to leave you, but I would understand if there are things I am not welcomed to do."

Just like any relationship, sometimes things must be done where the other simply cannot be there. Even if Skellig will find it very difficult to let her be without him, after coming so close to losing her completely.

"I do not know what it is like, to have siblings," he admits. "I have seen it enough, in passing, to understand the dynamics...though I imagine you and your brothers are likely...more complex."

They have reached higher, come to 'top' of one of the outcroppings of this island, and he carefully turns to use the updrafts to his advantage, a slow circle as his eyes scan the darkness below them.

(With the distance from land, there are not many other mammals here, no real 'prey' to speak of that would be worth hunting.)

"You should speak to them," he adds, though it is not judgmental. "I wonder...would they have been able to sense your wounds?" Another thought, a brief concern - would her brothers be able to sense the grip which Death had upon her, before Skellig had worked to push Them back and release Their grasp? "Or is that something you will have to tell them yourself?"

Skellig huffs - though it is partially as if to show his agreement, that Akatan did not receive 'enough' punishment for what he did to her. "I did not let him off easy," he mutters quickly, voice a bit rough as the memory of the man scrambling and begging on his hands and knees flashes through his mind.

But that is not what he wants to think about right now.

That memory gets shoved aside, similar to that of Heka...

"If they would not have sensed it, then there would be no harm in keeping the details sparse," he continues, redirecting his attention to their flightpath - the far side of the island beckons. "We would go to the lost city, if it is safe to do so."
